Printing Your Items

If you print your item(s) on a printer, you need to ensure that the item(s) will last the entire season and is legible. We suggest that you cut the item(s) to the correct size and laminate it using clear tape. We realize these are some extra steps to make the item(s) durable, but we think the convenience of buying on the web at any time is worth the effort. Lost items must be replaced at the replacement cost.

Saving Your License to Your Smart Device

Be sure that you have saved your license and are carrying the Smart Device with you when using any license. If you purchased a Sportcard identification, you will also need to save this information using your Smart Device.

Items Mailed by the DNR

Mailed items will be sent out by the DNR in 7 -10 business days.

Michigan residents are eligible for a senior discount at age 65 or older.

These licenses are available at all license agents and DNR Operations Service Centers. DNR will perform random audits to verify this information.

Licenses for resident and nonresident youths are available to minors 10-16 years of age on most licenses. Youth 9 and younger are eligible for Mentored Youth Hunt License (MYH). Each person will need their own ID or Sportcard to purchase items.

A student who is enrolled in a full-time course of study at a college or university within this state and who resides in Michigan during the school year.

Apprentice items are for anyone 10 years of age and older who has not received hunter safety certification. An individual is not eligible to obtain a specific type of apprentice license, such as a deer or turkey license, for more than 2 license years.

An individual shall not hunt game under an apprentice license unless another individual at least 21 years old who possesses a license, other than an apprentice license to hunt that game, accompanies that apprentice licensee and does not accompany more than 1 other apprentice licensee. In addition, if the apprentice is less than 14 years old and licensed to hunt deer, bear, or elk with a firearm, the minor child shall hunt only on private property.

The Michigan DNR offers discounted licenses to US military members who are currently in federal active duty status.

Qualifying customers must provide proof of military status at the time of purchase as well as while afield and be able to present proof upon request by a conservation officer, a tribal conservation officer, or any other law enforcement officer. Proof of military status may include military ID, leave papers, duty papers, military orders, or other evidence verifying the applicant is a member of the military and has been called to federal active duty.

A Michigan resident who has been determined by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs to be either permanently and totally disabled as a result of military service and entitled to veteran's benefits at the 100% rate or individually unemployable is eligible to purchase any license, for which a lottery is not required, free of charge.

In order to prove your eligibility for the veterans discount you must obtain a letter from the Veterans Administration stating that you are permanently and totally disabled and eligible for benefits at the 100% rate or rated as individually unemployable.

The individual shall possess proof of his or her eligibility and shall furnish proof upon request of a conservation officer, tribal officer or any other law enforcement officer. DNR will perform random audits to verify this information.

A Michigan resident who is declared legally blind may purchase a senior all-species fishing license. DNR will perform random audits to verify this information.

Reasons why an item is not being displayed in the catalog:

• Not successful in drawing
• Item is not on sale yet
• Residency limitations
• Item is out of stock

There are certain items that you can reprint from your Purchase History on eLicense.  Reprintable items have a select box next to the item detail.

Items that are reprinted will be printed with the ID used to purchase that item.

Once the season end date for an item has passed, it cannot be reprinted.

Your order is initiated by upon login or entering your first item in the cart if accessing the catalog as a guest. Once the order has started, you have 20 minutes to select any items you wish to purchase and complete checkout.

If you do not complete your order and payment information within the allotted time frames, your items will be cancelled and you will need to restart your order.
